Farm Happenings for November 15, 2023

Posted on November 12th, 2023 by Gail and Maurice Smith

Hello to our Early Winter Farm Share participants.  The forecast this week doesn't sound much like early winter.  Can stay in the 50's for the rest of the year! This past week on the farm was spent trying to get some winterizing done, training 2 new employees, and dealing with a variety of appointments.  We found that the delivery van needs a new front tire and Daryl (the 6-wheeler) needs a new battery.  The short days are definitely a challenge.  Myda and Nathan put cap head lamps on to do things like spread the shade cloth out and roll it up for storage.

Gail has been busy creating succulent center pieces similar to the one pictured.  The guys did some brushing along the river crossings so she can take Daryl across the Yellow River in the backyard to get pine boughs for Christmas wreathes soon to start up.  The list of veggies hasn't changed much this week.  Have lots of Brussels Sprouts picked.  Green cabbage is all harvested.  Still working on red cabbage.

As always have a great week and remember you are always welcome to visit.
