Farm Share Week 3

Posted on July 4th, 2021 by Gail and Maurice Smith

Happy 4th of July!  I must finish this newsletter today quickly for I am expected at the annual 4th of July "Greener" picnic at high noon.  Last year is the only year in my 68 years that I can remember that this event was canceled.  My mother is the oldest living "Greener" and will attend as usual.  She is 90 years old and still lives on her own.  The selection of food will seem never ending.  I am sure someone was at the park by 7am reserving the picnic tables at the Cumberland Park.  I hope all of you have a fun and safe time celebrating with your families.

By the photo above, you can see that we did not yet receive any rain and are transplanting onward with summer squash, sunflowers and pumpkins.  Jade and Ryan are finishing the field.  We keep sprinklers running on the fields that are located close to the greenhouses.  The heavy nightly dew keeps some plants alive, but, not much growing can take place without that life giving rain.  We will share what we get.

Take care and celebrate safely.
