Update from Locust Grove

Hi Folks,

It’s hard to believe with temps in the mid-30s these last few nights but the peach trees are thriving here at the Locust Grove!

These past few weeks have been tricky as we navigated large fluctuations in temperatures, delays in shipments and changes to operations to keep us and our crew safe. That said, we have finally caught up! (For now!) In the past few weeks, we planted 500 trees, pruned and fertilized 2000 trees, cleared debris from pruning and spring storms, mowed the orchard several times and watered trees by hand.

Peach blossoms came last week offering us a beautiful reward for these efforts and a harbinger of a solid peach harvest to come! It’s looking like a good crop and with a little more rain and temperatures increasing we will be sure to have plenty of peaches for your fruit shares and add on options come Mid-August in to September.

For those of you on Instagram, you can follow our adventures throughout the season at @mainegrownpeaches

We are deeply appreciative of your commitment to our farms during these trying times and always. Thank you for your support and choosing local!

All the best,
the Locust Grove
