Farm Happenings 5/23/22: Celebrate Maine Cheesemakers! / Update from Crooked Face Creamery

Posted on May 17th, 2022 by Daybreak Growers Alliance

Mid-May – spring is a great time to celebrate the award winning cheesemakers in the state, so many options and so delicious – for your cheese boards; as salad toppings for the fresh greens coming in; paired with Pachanga tortillas and Lover's Brook beans; egg and cheese on Forage bagels; cheese and Ragged Coast chocolates (oh yeah!); and with Spigold apples from the Apple Farm – we have a wide variety of cheeses available when you customize your box including new options from Crooked Face Creamery this week and Kennebec Cheesery's goat cheese returns!

Update from Crooked Face Creamery

We have two NEW CHEESES to announce this Spring! Our washed rind Bernadette - a Tomme style, she’s cheddary, a bit sharp and bright at the finish. We also have our new Nomad - a Taleggio style, another washed rind, but earthy and mushroomy, and so so savory.

We’ve been working hard building up our inventory. We have two staff now, Marsha Bard - in sales and production, and Matteo Lovera - assistant cheesemaker and affineur. Crooked Face Creamery now has a team! Exciting times!

I can’t say enough about my experience with Daybreak Growers Alliance. Their continued support even throughout the Pandemic has helped our creamery thrive. Their work has opened us up to a whole new customer base that we didn’t have access to before. As Daybreak grows, we grow. It’s a ripple effect and we are so grateful to be part of this incredible network.
