Farm Happenings for September 22, 2022

Posted on September 18th, 2022 by Michael Hoke

We have more romanesco this week!  If you didn't get a chance to get one, give it a try this week.  It's very much used like a cauliflower but has an amazingly chaotic shape and good flavour to match!  This week we have a bunch of new types of organic squash from HOPE eco-farms near Aylmer.  We continue to have a very good selection of all of our hot weather crops including watermelons, cherry tomatoes and lots of peppers this week!  It won't be too much longer that we will have large quantities of these crops so get them now! We also have a few bushels of romas still available this week but I can say with more certainty that this is the last chance for them.

Are you interested in coming to the farm to help out?  I have had several requests for this in the past couple of year and we have avoided it during covid, but if you have been waiting for a chance to come to the farm to see more closely what we are doing and even pitch in a bit, we are going to schedule people to come out on Thursdays before our share pickup at 4pm.  All you need to do is give me a heads up (just reply here and tell me which Thursday and how many people).  In exchange for helping us a bit on the farm we will send you home with some bulk produce you can store for the winter.  A typical session would be 2 hours from about 2 pm until 4 pm on Thursdays.
