Farm Happenings for June 24, 2022

Posted on June 19th, 2022 by Michael Hoke

New flowers means new fruit on the farm!  It's zucchini today but every week we are seeing an explosion of flowers and then fruit on the farm!

A note about Canada Day next week:  it falls on Friday so we've decided to do all of our deliveries on Thursday next week.  We will also be moving our farm pickup to Thursday (starting at 4pm) to accommodate anyone who may be away for the long weekend.  You may still pick up on Friday though if that works better for you.

This week we have new local strawberries from Great Lakes Farms!  We also have way more of our greenhouse tomatoes available this week and they are an amazing mix of coloured salad tomatoes and beefsteaks.  A few things that are newly harvested from our field crops is bunched beets, golden beets and red tropea onions.  These onions are a lot like green onions, but they bulb more and have a purple / red end.  We let these onions grow larger through the summer and they can be used as cooking onions.

As always if you have questions for us just reply here or send us a question at support@commongroundfarm.ca
