Farm Happenings for May 7, 2021

Posted on May 2nd, 2021 by Michael Hoke

We're finally getting some rain on the farm, which is great news for all of the plants we're putting into the ground this week. We just finished all of our onion transplanting, and we'll be planting lots of lettuce and beets today! And of course, field cleanup and greenhouse maintenance mean there is always something to keep us busy. Cucumbers are still making their way out of the greenhouse, and we're even harvesting our first eggplants and cherry tomatoes. We still have pea shoots available, so if you have yet to try them, now is your chance! Our mint is just beautiful right now and would really spruce up a salad! Why not toss some fresh spring beets in your salad as well, and save the greens for another dish?

From Pfennings this week, we have sweet potatoes, broccoli, Quebec peppers, and Ontario tomatoes.

Thank you,

Sarah
