Week 12 of 14!

Posted on October 23rd, 2019 by Lisa Merva

Can you believe it? We are already in week 12 of our 14 week Fall CSA season. If you've been wondering "What will happen next?" I've got an answer for you:

1. You'll get your last share of the season the week of November 11, but one of the biggest eating holidays will be just around the corner so we are planning our second annual Thanksgiving Pre-order Market. If you ask me, the best meals start with the best ingredients... the "local-er" the better! You'll be able to place orders online the week before Thanksgiving, and pickup will be at our headquarters on the Tuesday evening before Thanksgiving. Tell your friends and neighbors, because non-members can order, too! More details to come.

2. YES! We will have a Winter CSA starting in mid-January. We are still firming up details and will be ready to start signing up very soon. Because of the limited food available, we limit our Winter CSA memberships and only offer a few pickup locations.  This season always fills up fast... but don't worry-- current CSA members will hear about it first. Stay tuned!

This week, we are delighted to have a special offering of Shiitake Mushrooms from the UGArden, a student-run community farm through the University of Georgia. The mission of UGArden is to build a community of students centered on sustainable food systems. UGArden aims to teach organic farming practices, to share sustainably grown food with the local community, and to provide opportunities for engagement, service and experimentation.

We are excited to be working with these future farmers! 1/4 lb containers are available for purchase as an "extra" and we hope to continue offering these for the rest of the season.

This week, those of you with an Independent Baking Co. Bread Share will be getting...

French Country Loaf

Mixed grain bread of the French countryside with stone-ground wholegrain wheat, spelt, and rye flours.

Without further ado... let's eat!
