Farm Happenings for December

Posted on November 29th, 2019 by Melinda Hollyfield

Well the days are getting shorter and the fields are a little less green but the animals are still grazing fresh pasture every few days. Out on the farm, the daylight dictates our work hours, and we sure do appreciate a break from those long hot summer days. We have a lot to be thankful for out here everyday, but most of all we are thankful we get to help feed our community with healthful food. Thank YOU for supporting us.

A few notes- You might have noticed that our labels are a bit inconsistent. As a new farm it takes a couple years to decide on the right butcher. We have used three different butchers and tried a custom label and so this will account for the inconsistency in labels. Luckily, we have found one that we absolutely love! They are a family owned operation in Walling, TN called Underground Slaughter. They have been up and running for a year and they do our brand new natural smokes and cures! The cleanest ingredients we have been able to find! On top of that, they are only ONE HOUR away! Less travel time for the animals means less stress, and that is a huge priority for us on the farm.

Be sure to check out our winter veggie CSA boxes. You can always grab a "one time" share in our extras section. Just choose "Veggie Variety Box" and you can receive a box the next week! Right now we have sweet potatoes, carrots, beets, cabbage, kale, radishes, and the most delicious squash varieties that you can't find in the super markets!

Happy Holidays!
