Farm Happenings, Week of 3/13/23

Posted on March 9th, 2023 by Melinda Hollyfield

Hey CSA Family!

Continuing with our offerings of organic mushrooms grown right here in Smith County, this week we are offering golden oyster mushrooms! Try them this week by adding them to your CSA cart!

A little bit about Oyster Mushrooms: Oyster mushrooms get their name from their appearance. Their mild, briny flavor lends well to a variety of pastas, soups, and side dishes, while their texture makes them a truly versatile mushroom in the kitchen: braising brings out a lovely silky texture and pan searing leads to deliciously crisp edges.

Again, we are thrilled to continue our new partnership with Sequatchie Cove Farm, who is offering delicious, healthy eggs from pasture-raised and organically-fed hens. They will be available every week of the year! Add a carton to your CSA as an "extra" or "add-on"!

For our Veggie CSA members, here are the organic veggies that you'll find in this week’s CSA box:

Cornmeal

Hakurei Turnips

Purple Top Turnips

Kale

Radish Microgreens

Pea Greens

Scallions

Spinach

For our Grass-fed Meat CSA members, you will again have access to select cuts of our 100% grass-fed beef, 100% grass-fed lamb, and pasture-raised pork.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Please double check your delivery schedule to be sure you know when and where to pick up your CSA. When you arrive to your CSA pick-up location, please check in with the staff so they can mark you down for the pickup!
  • For Veggie CSA members: The veggies in the Winter CSA are not customizable. Each member will receive the same veggies each week. However, you can use the customization period to add "extras" to your order. Try our "extras" today!

Let us know what you're cooking on our Caney Fork Farms CSA Facebook group and be sure to follow us on Instagram and Facebook to keep up with farm happenings!

"Extras" are not produced by Caney Fork Farms, and therefore, may not be recognized as meeting our certifications and standards.
