Mid April Happenings

Posted on April 16th, 2020 by Melinda Hollyfield

Last delivery of the season!! We couldn't have done it without you all. Seriously, thank you so much for supporting our first 6-month Winter Veggie CSA. There were definitely some... hiccups.. but we got through it and we so appreciate how accommodating and understanding you all have been. If you did not make it into the Spring/Summer Veggie CSA, please let me know if you would like to be added to the waitlist, as we prioritize former CSA members. Our Grassfed Meat CSA still has openings! No extras this week. We will pick back up in May with dairy, eggs, bread, mushrooms, honey and more!

Important change: If you have previously picked up at CrossFit East Nashville, please note that we have changed the location to Fleming's Market (where you picked up last time). This location may remain as our East Nashville pick up location, but we are looking for a more central and permanent location. Please let us know if you have any parking lot suggestions.

What's in the box:

  • Kale
  • Bunching Onions
  • Lettuce- Roasted Root Vegetable Salad with Goat Cheese from Lindsay @loveandoliveoil. You can use the carrots, radishes, lettuce, and mint from this box! Pro tip: follow Lindsay on Instagram to see how she is using her Caney Fork Farms CSA goodies!
  • Brassica Sprouts- You definitely can't find these in the grocery store! These beautiful flowers are sprouting out of the collards and kale right now. Add them to any stir fry or roast them to get a crispy and tender crunch.
  • Mint- add to EVERY salad, mojito, and tea pot!
  • Carrots- To soup, or not to soup... depends on this crazy weather! If you want to squeeze in one last yummy soup before the weather really does turn, try this carrot soup!
  • Radishes- This recipe for Roasted Radishes with Brown Butter and Lemon is quick, easy, and great side dish for a pork tenderloin or leg of lamb.
  • Heirloom Corn Meal- Okay, not technically a vegetable.. but this homegrown and ground grain packs flavor! Use it in any recipe in place of corn meal, grits, or polenta and take your dish to the next level.
