Refresh

Posted on August 26th, 2023 by Danielle Boerson

This past week was a hot one on the farm, but our family managed to escape the heat for a few days in Newport State Park in Door County, where the wildlife outnumbers the humans.  There is definitely a micro climate that surrounds the peninsula, and we were fortunate enough to experience some cool, cloudy days while on our holiday...maybe not ideal beach weather, but weighed against 99 degrees and humid, we took it with gratitude.  Any way you slice it, taking time away was the perfect antidote to the build up of many weeks of nonstop tending, harvesting and marketing, and we are all better for the refresh!

While we were away, the crew did excellent work in spite of the extreme heat, making sure that the crops were harvested and the orders filled.  It's a testament to their commitment to the farm and to all of our members.  It became clear just how much they care, as everyone did their part to ensure that the shares were packed and delivered quickly and accurately.  We are so fortunate to have good help!  Knowing that the farm and the CSA were in good hands helped us exhale and take a much-needed break.

Now that there is a turn in the weather the cooler temps are descending on more of the state.  This makes cooking and eating all the better!  So when you get your box of goodies this week, we hope you are able to enjoy a meal from the farm in the context of a late summer day knowing that your food was produced using the loving labor of human hands.
