Honeynuts and Koginuts

Posted on October 1st, 2022 by Danielle Boerson

Comfort food season has officially arrived, and nothing says warm and cozy like winter squash.  This year's squash harvest of Honeynuts and Koginuts happened on the fly, with Mat taking on the brunt of the heavy lifting.  Temps dropped dramatically last week, so it required a push to get the squash in before nighttime temps dipped into the mid 30's.  The good news is that the crop is in and the yield is as impressive as the quality of the fruits.  This is a relief to us since the last couple of seasons we have fallen short in both departments.  Part of our success may have been the fact that we reduced our selection by one variety (delicata) and just focused on doing better with less.  It worked!  And what's even better than that is that we will be getting Delicata from our fellow growers at Olden Organics.  So if you love squash, you will have access to all 3 of these amazing varieties over the next 4 weeks.

Late season is officially upon us, which means that it's time to dig into late season foods like purple potatoes, rainbow carrots and fall radishes.  Check out this week's selection to see what will be in your box.  There is a little something for everyone.  Cheers!
