Here is what you may see in your box this week:

Celery- Beautiful, flavorful celery for all of your soup needs! It holds very well in the fridge, but it is so great in potato salads, stews and pasta sauces.

potato salad

Broccoli and/or Cauliflower- Some decent sized cauliflowers this week, but not enough to go around, as well as some really nice broccoli- either or.  Roastes broccoli and cauliflower is so good!

Tomatoes (large and cherry)- We are thinking this is the last big week for tomatoes.  Its been a nice run.  The cherries are still kicking.

Peppers, sweet- 2 or 3 red or orange peppers. Sweet and crisp. grill roast, slice thin on a salad or sandwich, chop into a pico de gallo or stir fry.  So many uses!

Radishes- We have so many radishes- I planted so much trying to make up for the lack of them in the spring! And now they are here...!

Potatoes- Not a great year for potatoes for us. You are getting a quart of them which will make a nice potato salad or you can add them to a stew or use them for a morning hash.  We LLVE potatoes and so wish we could have conquered the potato bugs, but nothing was working.  We have some thoughts for next year, but everyone in our area is experiencing the same thing.  Enjoy this small amount!

potato leek soup- you can't make this whole recipe with what we gave you, but you can half it

Leeks- Its potato leek soup time! Leeks are great in stews and soups and also great sauted up in any other veggie dish or with eggs.  2 or 3 leeks.

A different potato leek soup recipe, you can use onions too

Delicata and Spaghetti or heirloom acorn squash- everyone is going to get a delicata as well as either a spaghetti or acorn. These are not cured which means they are not going to last too long.  we picked them right out of the field and thier skins are still a bit soft.  Use up soon!  Enjoy roasted squash or spaghetti taco boats!

Roasted Delicata Squash

Cantaloupe or Watermelon- Its been a good run for our melons this year. The watermelons were a bit smaller than we hoped, but they were abundant and so are our cantaloupe!  We hope you have enjoyed the ones you have gotten.  Its very tricky to know what kind of year you we will get with our melons and also when to harvest them and if they are ripe- so we hope you got at least one delicious melon!

Carrots-Orange bunch for you. Top them to keep them longer.  The tops can be used in a chimichurri or pesto sauce.

Cucumbers- ...

Parsley- Parsley tops nicely on soup, or is also great made into a chimichurri. Bag up in the fridge so it does not wilt.

Crispy smashed potatoes with chimichurri sauce

chimichurri sauce

Arugula- A very nice stand of arugula. Goes so well on a sandwich or wilted onto a creamy pasta dish or with cherry tomatoes and mozzarella.

Arugula Cherry Tomato Salad

Onions- yellow 2 or 3

curly kale- Goes well in a soup or you can toss them with oil and salt and roast for kale chips!

A family effort of catching ( and eating) melons!

Have a great week!
