Hello Members!

Box 3 already!  There is going to be a deep freeze tonight so we are hoping to get as many crops out of ground as possible today!  It has been a warm fall so far so these low temps are making us ramp things up!

update: We were able to get all of our crops other than greens/kales/collards out of the ground! So, at this point we are washing and bagging and storing all of our crops for the winter! We will be doingbi-monthly deliveries of vegetables and meats throughout the winter- stay tuned!

If you are interested in a quarter beef please email us! We are hoping to sell a few quarters/halves of our grassfed/grass finished Scottish Highland beef this winter.

85lbs of beef for a quarter, deposit of $200, roughly $850-900 total. You work with us to customize the cuts, we deliver.  Email us if you are interested! blackbrook.farm.llc@gmail.com

Here is what you may have in your box this week:

Rutabaga- 2 or 3 rutabaga- These are a great sub for potatoes. They keep forever in the fridge, too!

Brussels SProuts- 1LB- Not our biggest brussels harvest this year, so you are getting one quart (lb).  So amazing roasted with bacon! or bacon grease and garlic. These have sweetened up with the frost a bit and are delicious if you cook them to a golden brown.

Green Cabbage- Nice sweetened up a lot with the cold weather!

Charred Cabbage and Carrots

Winter Squash- a medley of winter squash- We have several varieties left, but not enough for everyone to have just one variety.  You will get either acorn, delicata, autumn frost butternut.

Radishes- Not too spicy this time of year.

Salad Turnips- Sweetened up with the frost!

Carrots- orange predominant with some other colors mixed in.  1.5 lbs

Parsley- A great topping for any soup!

dill- We happened to have a terrific stand of dill- so awesome in a borscht!

lettuce/kale/arugula Mix- This mix is about 50% lettuce with other hardier greens mixed in there.  It will hold up for a couple weeks and is excellent tossed in a maple mustard vinaigrette.

Maple Dijon Dressing

Lettuce, head- Wash again before you eat. You will get either a red or green head lettuce

Popcorn- A nice and decorative bunch that you can also pop when you are done using it as a decoration!

Sweet Potatoes- A specialty!  We hope this can replace your potatoes that we have not been able to put in the box.

Red or green Curly Kale- Most members will be getting a beautiful purpe/red kale!  Keep in a plastic bag i nthe fridge so it does not soften.

Broccoli/Cauliflower- This will be the last week for our broccoli and cauliflower.  It has gotten too cold.

Garlic - 1 bulb

Onions- red or yellow storage
