What you might find in your box this week:

Watermelon/cantaloupe- Most of you wil be getting a watermelon this week, but some a cantaloupe. These should be ripe. You can leave on your counter if you feel it is not ripe enough or put in the fridge to mitigate it going past ripe. These are seeded local organic melons. They have lots of flavor but they do have seeds! Enjoy!

sweet pepper- Bell and or italian peppers. So sweet!

tomatoes- This is the time! Lots of red and heirloms tomatoes for you! Do not refrigerate.  These all should all be ripe and ready to eat. If you feel they need more time, leave on the counter ripen!

cherry tomatoes- Finally everyone gets cherry tomatoes!  These plants are huge and producing lots of fruit but it seems it has been a slow moving train.  We hope to keep it going for another month!

sweet cornWe hope you have been enjoying your sweet corn! If you find you cannot eat it all within the week just cut it off the cob and freeze in a bag.  Frozen corn goes  great in chili, taco meat, cheesy corn dips,etc...

Corn and Celery Stir Fry

Arugula- Some of you may get some spring mix instead as there was not a great yield with this succession of our arugula. Great on BLTS and also made into pesto with basil, cilantro or on its own.

cilantro- Cilantro is a great thing to have on hand this time of year for all your summer tomato needs.  Salsas, tacos, chimichurri, etc...

Chimichurri sometimes I just use cilantro or whatever herbs I have on hand

green bean/ dragons tongue bean mix- What a beautiful mix! These dragon tongue beans are so sweet!  They do loose their color once they are cooked so if you want to keep them looking cool, serve them fresh.

cucumbers- Still coming!  Today I had the grated into an orzo salad with an herby dressing and shaved peppers. It was SO GOOD!

Mediterranean orzo Pasta

Summer squash/zucchini- Also still coming!  Hope you are able to use them up in summer grilling, salads, stir frys and pasta dishes.

Summer Stir Fry with Shrimp

Celery- It's back!  We love to use celery in potato salad, tuna salad, pasta sauce and stir frys.  Wash again, once you have pulled the ribs apart.  You can keep in a plastic bag in the fridge for weeks.

Tokyo Bekana Green- This is a mix of napa and pac choi.  It is really mild and can be cooked up or eaten raw.  Wash again and keep them in a plastic bag.

Chicken Stir Fry With Tokyo Bekana

eggplant- Slow and steady. Hopefully everyone who likes eggplant is getting eggplant! So good marinated and grilled.

radishes- They are back! Slice thin on a sandwich, roasted on the grill, diced into a salad. Top to keep them from getting soft.  You can also top them and put them in a jar of water to keep them crisp.

Willem picking and eating cherry tomatoes, a big pastime these days

Getting that last oats/peas covercrop in!

1 of 3 bins of sweet corn harvested this week!
