Farm Happenings for July 25, 2023

Posted on July 23rd, 2023 by Rae Strobel Barr

First watermelon patch has produced a smaller crop of melons, but still tasty!   Rain forecast has us staying pretty dry hopefully for the next 10 days.....it was a wet month.    Last Tuesday we got 2.2 inches in 1 hour.   Also, we got the first of the fall greens planted this week.   Sweet potatoes are growing well.   Hard to believe we are already planting fall crops and our peak summer veg production is still coming (peppers and eggplants got planted later than normal this season).   See the picture for how we have to protect the Brussel sprouts from the summer bugs!
