Farm Happenings for June 14, 2022

Posted on June 12th, 2022 by Rae Strobel Barr

Do you ever see something coming in the distance and know there is nothing you can do to change it?    That's basically how I feel about the coming heat wave.    Ideally, this heat won't wipe out the greens that have just recovered from the hail 3 weeks ago.  We are gonna do what we can with water and shade cloth this week.   Shade cloth is a woven fabric that you put over plants to block out about 50% of the light from the sun.   We do have some nice baby carrots finally coming out of the ground this week.   We will see if we can pull of the magic trick of getting lettuce, carrots in your box for a couple weeks then add in the tomatoes and cucumbers by the first weeks of July.    That's the 4 main ingredients in a good salad of course!   Stay cool and hydrated this week....we plan to do that as best we can.
