Farm Happenings for May 29, 2021

Posted on May 27th, 2021 by Rae Strobel Barr

Welcome to the second week of CSA!   Our featured add on this week is Hot Sauce from our friend Chef Eneitra!   she is a local chef using local organic ingredients and makes amazing hot sauce.   If you come by the Tuesday market you will meet here as she is helping us there for the last 2 years.   We love her Hot sauce and think you will too....find in in the extras page of your CSA email.

Things are growing well and looking good right now, although early in the week we were pretty dry and the irrigation pumps got running for several days.  By mid week the rain came in and we were happy to see things perk back up.   For this second week of delivery, we still have plenty of greens and a good number of strawberries.   We are looking at lots of lettuce, broccoli, cabbage and more in the coming weeks.   Squash & cucumber plants are looking good despite the arrival of cucumber beetles!   These are a tough pest to manage; basically, the only organic option for pest control option is Pyrithrin, a derivative of the Chysthanthemum plant.

Enjoy this share!
