Farm Happenings for September 22, 2020

Posted on September 20th, 2020 by Rae Strobel Barr

Fall is here!   Wow, temperatures and humidity really dropped this last week.   They got early frost and freezes up in the Northeast of the country.   Fortunately here we have had no such craziness.   We are planting your Strawberries for 2021 this week, and soon enough we will are going to start breaking up garlic for planting.   Things are bone dry around here, and the 8 acres of cover crops that we planted last week could really use some moisture to germinate.   Cover crops need adequate moisture in the fall to really establish themselves before the true cold comes and the daylight hours shorten too much.   So many variables to farming, and 2020 has seen them all~!
