Farm Happenings for June 11, 2019

Posted on June 9th, 2019 by Rae Strobel Barr

Here we are in Week # 4, a month into the season!  I'm sure you all noticed, there has been a LOT of rain in the last week.   Some torrential downpours.   We got some and missed others.   The good news is we got a lot of planting done in the fields, including sweet potatoes and MORE tomatoes before the fields got too wet.   Some things are growing very well still and we hope to have more summer crops ready by mid-month..   This year is the first year we have ever had a significant cauliflower crop so we are quite proud of that!  There is more broccoli coming on, though not in the share this week, as the second planting is developing slower than the first.    With all the rain and different rates of crop development, you can imagine there are so many variables that go into what items will be in a share in a given week.   Its a challenging and fun task for us to grow for you.
