CSA WEEK 9

Posted on July 29th, 2020 by Jennifer LaMonaca

TOMATOES!  Harvest getting heavier by the day.  We have classic reds, heirlooms (delicate and flavorful pinks and oranges), AND Pick-Your-Own field OPEN (Mix & Match Cherry Tomatoes: sungolds, chocolate sprinkles, yellow pear)

NEW CROPS.  Cantaloupe, and Garlic.  100% grown on this farm!

PICK YOUR OWN:

Cherry Tomatoes - see above.  FlowersLots of sunflowers and beautiful zinnia.  Herbs - basil is loaded, make some pesto! Herb bouquets are not just for cooking with - enjoy the aroma therapy picking and on the counter in the kitchen for the week.  Also, try drying for later use.

LOCAL EXTRAS FOR SALE:  Corn - just harvested in Hammonton.  I think you will taste the Pastore Farms difference. More Mushrooms, Cheeses, Popsicles and Ice creme, Joes Tea (stay hydrated!), Chicken sausages and whole chickens, ground turkey and Baked goods (as available from Hammerbacher).  Also some pickled Kohlrabi for a twist.

Farmer notes:  Spots on spaghetti squash?  That's OK, it is just where it laid on the ground.  We grow using organic practices and it is not always easy to control bacterial diseases in certain situations, weather dependent.   It is totally fine to eat and high quality!  On peaches... our farm friends tell us they have just enough for their own farm stands; the cold spring that got our strawberries and blueberries also affected the peach yields:( We hope for a more fruitful upcoming apple season.

PLEASE NOTE CSA PICKUP HOURS: Thu, Fri 1-6 PM, Sat 11 AM-3 PM.

Thu AND Fri OPEN AT 1 PM (NOT 12), AND Sat OPEN at 11 AM (NOT 10).  I know conflicting information comes from Harvie about hours; we have been trying to update this and it is a glitch we seem to be locked into.  Thank you for helping us out and keeping with the farms hours.

Thank you for wearing a mask and social distancing.  It is hot in the fields this week, please take it easy out there and drink plenty of water.  Bring a container to fill up from our coolers, and Joe's Ice Tea for sale in the fridge.

See you on the farm.
