First box of the season- next Tuesday June 4th!

Posted on May 28th, 2019 by Emily Asmus

Welcome everyone to the 2019 season for Welcome Table. Every year on the farm, we have an operating slogan. Past year's slogans have been  "Done by lunch," "Better is better," "Git er done." This year, you will be glad to know is "Better than Ever." And indeed we are striving to make this our best season ever in terms of field productivity, and customer satisfaction. Towards that end, we are trialing this whole "Harvie" customization platform that will allow you to choose the food you most want to eat, from the food that we grow. Here we go....

With this email you will receive a "rough draft" pick list from your box. You have until Sunday night 8pm to make any changes to this list or add any additional items for your box.  You always have a "do nothing" option. Then on Monday morning we will get the updates for our final pick list. We harvest and pack, then deliver to your drop location by 3 pm on Tuesday. When you pick up your food you'll look for the box WITH YOUR NAME ON IT. If you do not see your box, a couple of things might be going on: A. Your box is at another pick up location. B. You have a "Flex" share and may have selected that day to NOT receive a box. If there is confusion, call Emily on her cell at 509.876.9373 and we will see what we can work out. DO NOT ask the house resident at 303 Whitman, or the staff at the Patisserie to help you.

As in past years, we love for boxes to stay at the drop sites. Bring your own bags to bring your box home. Then carefully unfold and flatten you box and store in the marked area. If you MUST take your box with you, please return it on the following Tuesday. Do not use the box for other purposes or let the box disappear into your garage or car. Remember these boxes are for holding the food of your friends and neighbors and they cost us money to replace.

If you are getting a flower share, or an add on flower bouquet, look for your name on the label on the flower sleeve.

We are also offering the products of a few neighboring farms this year. For this week you will see the options to order eggs from Hacienda Zargosa and Jams from Miles Away Farms. Jennifer Kleffner makes these small batch jams from local fruit with 1/3 les sugar by weight than traditional jams. Some weeks, like this one, these products are available within your share. As more produce comes in season on the farm, such items will be available as "Add-On" and you will be billed additionally for them.

For those of you choosing a payment plan for your shares, remember you will be charged for your second 25% on Tuesday, first delivery day. Then the remaining balance due will be billed on a weekly basis.

Lots of initial logistics. Soon it will be down to eating the good food of the season.

With deep gratitude,

Emily and the whole farm crew
