Farm Happenings for June 8, 2021

Posted on June 1st, 2021 by Emily Asmus

Whew! I'm always glad when the first big box day of the season is over. There are always many issues of membership to deal with- different pick up locations, forgotten boxes, missed flower shares, extra eggs.... Thank you all for your patience as we get back in the swing of things. I hope everyone now has their Tuesday 3pm CSA alarms set. Our goal is always 100% box retrieval. Also, a reminder that if you can't make it there on Tuesday morning, you have Wednesdays morning as well to fetch your food.

This week was the bumper harvest on fava beans. Bags this week will be up to 2 lbs each. Lots of great receipes out there, but we most often eat them shelled from the pod, sauteed with butter, and tossed with pasta.

We are introducing 3 local cheeses from Walla Walla Cheese Company this week that would also be great with the favas. Try the Halloumi frying cheese, or 1/2 blocks of Gouda or Harvarti.

Grateful Herb Tea offerings:

Hibiscus Infusion: Hibiscus, Spearmint, Rooibos, Clove and Cinnamon (amazing hot or iced, looks fun in glass pitchers, brews bright pink!)

Caffeinated Tropical Blend: Assam Black Tea with Hibiscus, Orange Peep, Coconut and Passion Flower

Happy Eating,

Emily
