Farm Happenings for August 18, 2020

Posted on August 12th, 2020 by Emily Asmus

This week on the farm has been super productive. We've had our full crew working hard to get caught up on weeding, and harvesting. We were able to bring in some large quantities, making way for fall cover crop seed to go down. We're over half way through our potato harvest. We even had time to do some reclamation work in the perennial flower bed today. Woot Woot!

Its good to get slightly ahead because we say several goodbyes at the end of this week. Brian Schram, shown here, has been a positive addition to our crew this summer. He departs now to began his "real" job of teaching science at Milton Freewater High School. Our Whitman College interns, Keeli and Sam, are also heading toward there fall of remote learning. We will miss you!!!

In the boxes this week catch out the swap options for cherry tomatoes, sweet corn, shisito peppers. Our large heirloom tomatoes are being very slow and stubborn to ripen. I think that means we'll be feasting on tomatoes in September.  Cheese, jam, and tea options will return next week.

Happy Eating, Emily and the whole farm crew
