CSA WEEK 6

Posted on July 6th, 2021 by Lacey Arnold

The moment we’ve all been waiting for is here – it’s corn season! Whether it’s for maize that makes its way into locally-made Mi Tierra tortillas, our world-famous corn maze, or just munching off the cob, we find ways to celebrate every variety of corn that we grow here on the farm. Even though only 1% of all corn grown here in the U.S. is sweet corn, we’ll soon be swimming in bushel bags of it. Our corn comes straight from the fields before being packed into your CSA shares, and we can’t think of a better way to welcome in the summer season than that.

FEATURED ITEM THIS WEEK… Sweet Corn!!!

With as many different varieties as there are uses, corn is one of the most versatile and delicious crops that we grow. It has been cultivated by indigenous peoples for over 7,000 years, and it is now grown on every continent except Antarctica. Some of our favorite ways of eating it include roasting it on the cob, pan-searing the kernels, and deep frying it in fritter-form.
