Farm Happenings for December 8, 2018

Posted on December 1st, 2018 by Jack Manix

Hope week one went well for everybody. We know there are some questions on swapping which we will get answered Monday. Did you find your share reflected what you liked when you set your preferences? Take time to review the preferences and adjust if necessary. If you don't give items a rating, the Harvie system will set them at 3 (average).

Benny will be back from vacation for next pickup so his bread will be available for bread-shareholders. The specialty item will be Walker Farm organic frozen basil-parsley-olive oil packs that are great for making pesto.

Looks like we will be in for a nice stretch of sunny weather after Sunday so that should let some of our later greens size up. We are running out of natural light with the short days of December so any sunny days will help. Hopefully this week the snow will go down enough so we can mulch next year's strawberries with straw.

One other note. Occasionally we will add veggies to the product list but not in sufficient quantities for everybody. We'll let you know when we do so you could set your preference. Today for example we added celery. There should be plenty for everybody when it's ready for harvest so no problem there. However, we might have small amounts of mache and dandelion greens. If you do like them, and say we only have 20 bunches and 30 folks like them, the system will randomize the distribution. Thanks for your support!
