Spring Share Week Two

Posted on May 28th, 2021 by Lorraine Blackwell

As I write this, it is snowing and blowing giant fluffy flakes of snow... on May 28th! Hopefully this cold snap is short lived and the crops are no worse for the wear of it. Luckily, our tomatoes, eggplant, and peppers are tucked in the greenhouse and I was able to turn the furnace back on to keep them happy. The cucumbers and basil are planted in a caterpillar tunnel so have some protection but will still be displeased with the cold temperatures. Weather is always the most unpredictable variable of farming!

A number of people asked about our honey and we do have a limited supply left from 2020. I had forgot to add it to the extras list last week but it is now available for purchase. Our 2021 honey will be available by September and I will announce here once it's ready. Gordon's Goat Dairy also delivered our cheese order today so be sure to check out the goat cheese options in the extras section.

Once this unsettled weather passes I will be finishing up the last of the major plantings of the spring with the eggplants, peppers, and winter squash. Although I've started weeding crops already, once the major planting is done, weeding becomes the main task for the month of June.
