Farm Happenings for March 25, 2020

Posted on March 24th, 2020 by Peter Seely

Greetings all!

All well at the farm, though we do have items that we can no longer sell to restaurants (since they are closed), and the farmers markets (since they have been canceled), so we are happy to make them available to you.

We are using the Harvie platform to help with taking the orders,  getting payments, and arranging the delivery.

Here is how you can order a pre-season box that would be delivered to your chosen pick-up site on Saturday, March 27th. (Or you can request a home delivery for an extra $5.) The three available pick-up sites are the farm, 1114 Carmen Ave. in Sheboygan, and Fondy Food Center Office at 1617 W. North St., Milwaukee, and you will have to choose one of those three, or the home delivery.  Pick up times are 9-1.

When you click "Purchase From The Farm Stand" below, you'll be ordering a $20 box of veggies. You'll be able to fully customize this box though, so don't worry if you don't like everything in it! From there, you can add "Extras" for an additional cost to your box. You'll be paying with a credit card and your card will be charged when we finalize the delivery. You’ll receive an order confirmation email as well as a notification when your share is on the way!

Order as soon as possible, but definitely by Friday noon!

We will likely use the same procedure the following week as well.

Holler with questions, and stay tuned!

Peter

P.S. If you will be ordering something to be picked up at the Fondy Food Center in Milwaukee, you could also order other items from the other vendors, which you can find at the Facebook Page of the Milwaukee Winter Farmers Market. https://www.facebook.com/mcwfm

P.P.S. If you would like to order a Golden Bear assortment box of either pork or beef, send us a separate email with your interest.  (Those are not listed at the Harvie listing.)  They would each cost $240, and they would be delivered on Saturday, April 11th.

P.P.P.S. Here's a recipe including many items that we have currently available:

DUTCH SALAD

1 cup cooked diced beets

1 cup cooked diced potatoes

1/4 cup thinly sliced onion

1 small tart apple, diced

2 hard-cooked eggs, diced

1/2 cup diced Gouda, Edam, cheddar, Muenster, or similar cheese

1/4 cup diced pickle

1/8 teaspoon salt

3 tablespoons cider vinegar

34 tablespoons oil

mayonnaise

Combine first 4 ingredients, with eggs, cheese, and pickle and season with salt. Dress with vinegar and oil, mixing gently but thoroughly. Just before serving, garnish with dollops of mayonnaise.
