Farm Happenings for August 3, 2022

Posted on July 27th, 2022 by Peter Seely

Granddaughters trying out the bunched carrots we are sending out this week

This week's offerings: New this week are the carrots, as you see in the picture above.  Still on the small side, but pretty tasty!  We also start this week with our onions.  For the first month or so you will get mostly the Spanish onions, which are a little sweeter and juicier than the storage onions, which will follow them in the fall.  Also in the Allium family that we will be offering are red onions, leeks, shallots, cipollini onions, and also the garlic.  We also start the melon season with a cantaloupe this week.  Other types of melons we will include are some (smaller) watermelons, and some other varieties of cantaloupes.

Coming soon: More garlic, probably next week, along possibly with some sweet corn.  Gradually more tomatoes, as they ripen!  And peppers, perhaps starting with a frying pepper or two!

Reminder: Remember to pick up your tote in the allotted time!  Thanks!  If you know close to the pick-up time that you just can't make it during the regularly scheduled pick up times, then if you call your pick-up site host, they might be willing to hold onto your tote until you can come by soon thereafter, but they are not obligated to do so.  They are providing a great service, and we don't want to make it more difficult for them!

Have a good week!
