Farm Happenings for August 25, 2021

Posted on August 21st, 2021 by Peter Seely

Josh Harvey making sure the refrigeration unit on our truck is working properly before deliveries!

This week's offerings: New this week are some frying peppers, some beets with tops, and the first winter squash, a Red Kuri squash.  We planted several different varieties of cantaloupes, and unfortunately cannot specify which melons went to which pick-up sites, so we can't identify yours by name.  Prerequisites for any melon we send your way are that they are on the small side (so that they will fit into your totes!), and that taste and flavor are paramount.  Some do not have a long shelf life, be forewarned.  Cherry tomatoes are fairly plentiful, so we package them into quarts this time!

Peaches:  A few peaches left; available through Harvie this time instead of Barn2Door.

Eggs will be doubled up, as we are still picking up the slightly smaller pullet eggs, so everyone that receives eggs will be getting twice the quantity as their original order.

Coming soon: Potatoes, and other types of winter squash!
