Farm Happenings for October 2, 2019

Posted on September 28th, 2019 by Peter Seely

New crop: Brussels sprouts! And fennel is back again for those who love it. Great in soups and salads.

The white onion that you might find in your box looks not great on the outside but is rock hard and tastes good.

The rain has made it hard to dig the potatoes and sweet potatoes but we are getting them out in between the showers.

A friend of ours, Jake Otte, has organic Concord grapes for purchase in 1.5 lb clamshells, look for them in the store.

There are still some organic Honey Crisp apples from our neighbor available in the store too. Also Scarlett O'Hara apples, and Pixie Crunch (a small, tasty, snack apple) as well, also from Dave & Rhonda's Happy Roots Farm.

Enjoy this beautiful weather and we hope to see you at the Farm day next week Saturday, weather permitting. Join us between 10 and 4 with potluck lunch at 12:30. Farm tour following lunch.

Golden Bear Farm, whose beef and pork we have offered through the years, has a pasture walk tomorrow; check it out at https://www.facebook.com/events/765680777198836/?active_tab=about
