The Sixth Week of the Summer CSA

Posted on August 3rd, 2019 by Tadd Petersen

The sixth week of the Summer CSA program is here!  The team has been busy in the fields and hoop houses making sure everything is ready for harvest before CSA distribution.  We have been keeping a close eye on tomatoes because they are almost ready to harvest and we hope to have those to share with you in the next week or so. This week, we are excited to share poblano peppers for you to select in your CSA share.  Poblano peppers are a mild variety of a chile pepper and are most commonly used in Mexican and Southwestern recipes.  Poblano peppers are named as such because they are said to originate from the state of Puebla in central Mexico. They have a thick, dark-green skin and a wide base which tapers to a point.  These peppers are great for roasting or thrown on the grill.  The most common dish they are used in is chile relleno, where the pepper is stuffed with cheese, coated in an egg mixture and fried.  We want to encourage all of you to try this delicious, seasonal variety and let us know what you think!  Make sure to tag us on Instagram or Facebook so we can share with the rest of our community.

Thanks!
