Week #9 comin' up!

Posted on July 15th, 2020 by Cale Sprister

Everything is brown all around, but the farm is green as can be! Rain, and cooler temperatures for a few days have been very, very welcome.

But of course, that won’t last.

This is a love, hate time of year for me.  I love the bounty that is about to smack me in the face, but hate farming and (trying to) work in the heat.

A lot of crops don’t respond well to the recent spat of upper 90s to 100 degree temps.   I lost an entire bed of broccoli this week.  Most of those plants were starting to form big, beautiful ,broccoli heads, but when the temps get above 90 for any period of time, they said “No way!” and bolted (formed seed heads) and became compost.

However, we are at the start of what I will call the bounty period.  The time of the season where a lot of the different summer crops are maturing.

I'll keep planting and harvesting; wishing for cooler temps

So how have you been doing with using your weekly veggies?  Are you finding the recipes helpful?  Any cool ways you use them?

I hope you all are doing well and thanks for supporting me!
