From near 90 to FROST Week #3

Posted on May 25th, 2020 by Cale Sprister

Crazy Colorado weather huh?

Monday week #1 we were in the 90s then this Monday morning week #2, I woke up to FROST on the ground and ICE on my truck!

Well some plants, mainly the 1st set green bean transplants got set back a bit. But I should be able to get them through.  I did lose several beds to the heat; salad turnips, mixed greens, and cilantro.  I have replanted and hopefully they'll come in better this go around!

Just to let you all in my head, much of the stress I carrying from week to week is trying to fully support you guys by getting you full shares. But I then need to remind myself the heart of local CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) and farm share programs is sharing in the bountiful harvests and sharing in the harvest shortages.  That's what makes it all go round and round. I say all this to express that I am very thankful to have you supporting me!

Overall everything is still slowly maturing right now so unfortunately I don't have that much to deliver to you all this week....

I have lots of baby lettuce mix and a different and more mature spinach, but not much else.

I am trying to get creative and be patient. Hopefully that's the mindset you have too!  I love farming even though it is downright frustrating when my plans don't work!

Thanks for sticking with me on this journey!
