Farm Happenings for July 11, 2019

Posted on July 9th, 2019 by Yoram Shanan

Hello Farm Family! I hope you all had a lovely holiday last week. We worked on the 4th but afterwards we had a lovely little vegan BBQ on the farm with family, friends, drinks and music.  Today we're enjoying a small window of dry weather here by hoeing and mowing fields! It's been so wet we're actually still planting things that wanted to go in the ground at the end of May (oh my!). It's not anything I'm happy about but it's still reassuring to know that we as a farm are not alone in this. Parts of Illinois saw 2-3 times the amount of normal rainfall this June.  Many conventional grain farmers (for whom it is often difficult for me to find sypmathy for what with all their lobbying resources and consequent goverment subsidies) weren't able to get fields planted at all this spring.  I hope I'm not beginning to sound like a broken bell but my point is that farmers need your support now more than ever.  You put your money where you mouth is (hehe, pun...) this season by joining our farm share and I want to make sure you feel good about that.  So here's to you!  Thank you and I hope you enjoy this weeks harvest!
