Farm Happenings for January 16, 2019: Welcome to Winter Eating!

Posted on January 11th, 2019 by Robinette Farms

Happy New Year and Welcome to our first ever Winter CSA!

We are super excited to embark on this journey of winter eating with you all. Thank you for being interested in year round local food in Nebraska. At Robinette we are all about pushing the limits and trying new things and are lucky to have adventurous eaters such as yourselves in cahoots with us!

Despite the cold fall things are growing quite well in our tunnels, which means we have lots of wonderful fresh greens for you right when you want and need them. We've got a cooler full of storage roots and cabbage and a greenhouse full of micro greens headed right for your plates.

Winter has continued to be busy, despite it being our "down time" on the farm. We are almost done with the new micro greens greenhouse and boy will it be fancy! We are hoping this house will increase our production abilities in the winter while reducing the amount of inputs (propane...) we have to put in the system to keep things growing. Be sure to check out our Instagram account to follow along with the updates!

Also, registration for Summer CSA begins on Friday, January 18th! I know you all are getting some emails from us right now spelling it all out, but I don't want any of you to miss out on any of the Add-On shares, which may sell out fast! If you want egg shares, be sure to sign up ASAP! We will have plenty of veggie shares available this Summer season, so if you have any friends who have been on the fence about CSA, be sure to let them know we have space. Here's where the link for registration will be: www.harvie.farm/signup/robinettefarms

Just a reminder:

  • pick up is at Goldenrod Pastries on Wednesdays from 4-6pm
  • Winter Share runs for 10 weeks: January 16th through March 20th
  • you have until Sundays at 11pm to customize your share and buy any extra items

Looking forward to seeing you all!
