Farm Happening for June 7th

Posted on June 7th, 2022 by Anna Bunk

Hello Farmshare Members!

Welcome to the farmshare season! We have been eagerly anticipating the first farmshare harvest of the year and we are excited to fill your shares with beautiful produce!

Each week you will get an email with some info about products you might find in your share (depending on your preferences, crop readiness, and availability) as well as a brief update on what’s happening back on the farm. From here, you can customize your box by swapping products and adding extra goodies!

The start of the farmshare season marks the beginning of the busy harvest season for us, and in anticipation we have been finishing as many planting and weeding projects as possible before it's all hands on deck for harvest!

In the last few weeks we planted our squash, cucumbers, tomatoes and put in our big potato planting. This week we'll be weeding the lettuce blocks, and the broccoli and cauliflower plantings and the herb beds. The propagation greenhouses are bursting with baby plants and we have a big planting of kale, Brussels sprouts and lettuce this week. It takes lots of hands to make the farm go round, we're grateful to have an awesome crew making it all happen! New and returning folks have been seeding, planting, cultivating, harvesting, packing and irrigating.

This week's boxes will feature LOTS of spring greens. Time to load up of nutrient and mineral rich salads, stir fries and bountiful steamed greens. Just what the body needs as we enter the longest days of the year!

We are so very grateful for every one of you for being an essential part of our farm. A HUGE thank you to all of you who have been with us for multiple years! And to those of you who are trying this out for the first time, welcome and thanks for diving in and supporting us for an entire season of delicious nourishing produce!

Enjoy your share!

Best,

The River Run crew
