Farm Happenings for September 29, 2020

Posted on September 25th, 2020 by Anna Bunk

Hi folks, A warm welcome to the members who have joined us for the Fall season of the Farmshare! With the rains this past week, the seasonal shift is starting to feel very familiar... and damp. We were concerned for our crops that once we no longer had irrigation access (we stop irrigating mid September), the weather would continue to be warm and dry. But, its looking like we're getting both rain and sun... and hopefully lots more rainbows.

With the change of the season, we are noticing the last of our summer crops fading out and much more of our harvest time is going towards the fall and winter crops. The crew has already harvested more than half of the potatoes to put up in storage, we have already "dipped" into the brussel sprouts (you'll see these in your shares in a week or two!), and the carrots are looking vibrant and tasting delicious as only those cool weather carrots do. Zucchini and summer squash are officially gone, the green beans are fading, as are the cucumbers.

We hope you enjoy your shares!
