Farm Happenings for July 8, 2020

Posted on July 2nd, 2020 by Anna Bunk

Hello Farmshare Members!

In full swing, the crops and us farmers are just moving things along here; thousands of transplants are planted these early July weeks for late summer, fall, and even winter harvests. Seeds are sown on a regular basis. Harvesting now happens almost everyday of the week. And loads of weeding. Even with our large crew and our helpful cultivation tools and gadgets, we seem to fall behind on the weeding every year around this time. With so much planting and harvesting taking the priority, the weeding becomes what we do in the in-between times. We’ll get to it all eventually!

This week you may get a chance to enjoy some beets, possibly some carrots, or some turnips. (Heads up: some pests got to the turnip greens so you may see lots of little holes in the leaf but the turnip itself is unaffected and delicious). And this is the very last week of garlic scapes!

Enjoy!
