Brrrr is for Beaver Moon

Posted on November 30th, 2020 by Annie Moore

What is up with this weather!? We've zipped up the greenhouse and hoophouse and are expecting a very chilly morning tomorrow! Since we're south of the lake, we're not expecting a frost overnight, but our farmer friends to the north are covering their greens with row cover to keep them from getting too cold. Hopefully the forecast for the city is accurate, otherwise we might have some unhappy lettuce in the morning. Luckily, there are a lot of plants that like the cold, so some veggies will actually taste sweeter as a result of this temperature plunge!

What a day for a farm share that was last Wednesday. Thanks for making it out to pick up your veggies through the deluge and floods. Lots of good stuff coming your way again this week including carrots, cabbage, our own sweet potatoes, and lots of beautiful greens.

The Lost Line will be back on Saturday morning with breakfast burritos and onigirazus. Be sure to follow him on Insta (@thelostlinenola) to see the menu and pre-order.

Finally, we're beginning to collect clothing and sleeping gear donations for Southern Solidarity at the farm. Please bring any items you'd like to donate (see the list of needs) to farm pick-ups only. We'll have a bin by the gate.

Thank you and stay warm!

PS - We've updated our website with a Farm Share FAQ page. Please have a look!
