Farm Happenings for July 16, 2020

Posted on July 8th, 2020 by Bob Baker

Hello Members - We cannot thank you enough for your support of the CSA and Farm this year!  Who could have imagined the current conditions that are affecting our lives on a daily basis!  The greatest effect the Farm experienced was the absence of our volunteer groups from schools and businesses.  During the months of May and June, which are our busiest months for planting in the fields, we usually have over 1,500 volunteers who plant over 250,000 vegetable plants. To make up for the effects of COVID-19  - we posted on our website volunteer opportunities to sign up daily for 3 hour shifts - the response was nothing short of amazing and we were able to make up a lot of lost ground on our planting schedule.  A Big Thanks to all who have responded and helped - Thank You!!!

The rain and continuing rain is certainly a blessing!  A good soaking rain and 3 days of sun and the plants just pop - their mantle of green deepens - blossoms bloom and growth can be measured in inches - truly a sight to behold and be amazed!

We are so happy the season has started and we look forward to supplying you with a good variety of vegetable for you and your family to enjoy!  If you are considering helping out at the farm - we certainly still have plenty of opportunities - you may visit our website www.regionalfoodbank.net  - on the home page - click on volunteers and that will take you to the sign up page.  We look forward to seeing your on Thursday as we deliver and you pick-up your vegetable shares!  Thank you again for your very valued support!!!

Enjoy your weekend - Very Best, Bob
