Farm Happenings for June 13 2020

Posted on June 6th, 2020 by Ben Sayler

As we enter week 3 of your CSA, some warm season crops are beginning to mature-including summer squash and basil! We have also added kohlrabi (similar to cabbage), hakurie turnips (salad turnips-very mild flavor), and broccoli to the list. As a reminder, please DOUBLE CHECK YOUR LABEL. Any items to be retrieved from the cooler will be highlighted (eggs, cheese, kombucha, chicken, etc.). Farm Extras shares will be getting a block of Gouda Cheese this week-remember to get it from the cooler.

This week we are planting more lettuce, summer squash, zucchini, cucumbers, and brussel sprouts. Brussel sprouts must be planted early because they take several months to mature. We have historically waited until mid July to plant, but then it isn't ready for harvest until Winter. We are hoping to have brussel sprouts before the CSA season ends this year! Next week we expect to have zucchini and cucumbers available from our first plantings back in May.

Add-Ons available include:

-cow and goat cheese

-kombucha

-honey

-chicken

-Fresh Herbs (basil and dill)

-applesuace and canned peaches

Please customize your share for the best CSA experience!
