Farm Happenings for October 2, 2022

Well it finally became fall. I say this as we're looking at highs in the lows 80s high 70s for the next few days. Bananas. By far the latest we've ever had to cover crop. The good news is that the veggies are benefitting after that weird cold spring that really slowed everything down. Hard to feel that great about it though with the undercurrent of climate change. We've been talking more and more about how climate change has impacted our growing season out here--it's strange to think that we're in one of the regions that is "better off" with climate change impacts despite the wild weather we've seen this year and smoke. Difficult to take it all in!

This week features delicata squash again--a real fan favorite. We love these roasted in the oven, but with the aforementioned warm weather, if the oven isn't your thing they do great sliced into a cast iron. I leave the seeds on because texture. A truly delicious and versatile food. The variety you'll be getting this week is called "honey boat" which is supposedly sweeter, but I really love it for the orangey beige rind. Something about that really brings me some fall pleasure.
