Farm Happenings for October 19, 2021

Posted on October 15th, 2021 by Grayson Crane

Hi CSA members,

Apologies for the delay in getting this email to you! We had a very busy week with sheep shearing, hoof care, and prepping shelters for winter. That and our first frost last Tuesday meant we needed to cover and prep field crops for the chill. This year's frost is almost a whole 10 days earlier then last year--rumor on the street is that we're going to have another la Nina winter (wet and cold), which hopefully will put some more water back in the ground after this scorcher of a summer.

This week's box is bringing the winter squash back--you'll see them this week, and in your final box. Speaking of final boxes, this one is our *second* to last. Depending on your pick up date, your last box will either be Tuesday Oct 26th or Wednesday Oct 27th. It's oft said, but I truly truly can't believe we're already at the end of the CSA season and October.

A quick reminder to fill out our 2021 CSA survey (and get a discount for 2022) and I've now opened our monthly winter boxes. Pick ups will either be on farm or at the Capitol Hill farmers market.

See you at pick up,

Grayson
