Farm Happenings for Oxen Hill Farm Autumn CSA #2 of 3 (week of Nov 19- Nov 24, 2020)

Posted on November 15th, 2020 by Lisa Griffin

In this season of reflection, amidst the continuous turbulence of a global pandemic, we still have so much for which we can be thankful.  While the weather this season has brought extremes of cold, rain, drought, heat, and cold again, we are tremendously grateful for the support of our members, some who have been with us for the past 12 years.  We are blessed to be working together in a family business with the support of a terrific crew, as part of a tremendous farming heritage over 11 generations. We are thankful to live in a country where we are free to grow food in the best manner we see fit, under the protection of brave men and women willing to give their lives in order to protect the freedom of all.

We hope that during this season of Thanksgiving, each of you have the opportunity to enjoy a shared meal, perhaps even digitally, with family and friends and reflect upon the blessings of the season.

The unseasonable cold weather of last week impacted our field harvest of some of the lighter greens, but we have gathered and stored as many items as we can for your holiday tables. EXTRA sweet potatoes and farm made pickles, salsa and relish, Crushed Tomatoes, Bruschetta Sauce (a great neighbor gift!) and more may be purchased as Extras when you customize your share!

SOME OF THE PRODUCE YOU RECEIVE HAS BEEN WASHED FROM THE FIELD, BUT LIKE ALL FRESH PRODUCE, SHOULD BE THOROUGHLY WASHED AND, SOMETIMES, REFRIGERATED BY YOU AT HOME.
