Week 18! (A few important notes)

Posted on September 24th, 2022 by Katherine Nietmann

Welcome to Week 18!  The last deliveries are Wednesday 10/5 and Saturday 10/8.

Important Note #1: We are offering delicata squash this week, but please be aware that the stems were mistakenly snapped off during harvest, which means they will not keep for very long.  We suggest you use them within 3 weeks.

Important Note #2:  There is a chance we will need to cancel one of the last two weeks of the CSA if our baby comes early.  If this happens, we will email you as soon as we know, and you will each be issued a refund for any amount that you have paid for towards that delivery.  Sorry in advance.

With two weeks left in the CSA, we hope you're thinking about savoring the last flavors of summer (bell peppers, hot peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers!) and also relishing the fresh flavors of fall (fennel, winter squash, leeks, radishes!).  We have a full suite of new fall crops to offer these last two weeks, of which fennel and kabocha (Sunshine) squash are our favorites!

After the CSA, we hope you continue to place orders with us in our online store, which will run weekly (Wednesday delivery) straight from October through May 2023.  We have a wide selection of storage crops (beets, potatoes, onions, garlic, radishes etc.) along with a tasty variety of fresh crops (spinach, lettuce, arugula, mustard greens, herbs, kale, chard, leeks etc.) to keep your kitchen well stocked and your plates flavorful through the entire winter.  All the info about our online store will be in next week's newsletter and also on our website.

We will spend this week harvesting storage crops, cleaning up the fields, and continuing to remove summer crops from the high tunnels and seed them with winter and spring crops.  We hope you have a great week and enjoy the produce!
