Farm Happenings for July 2, 2021

Posted on June 28th, 2021 by Jessica Linton

This past Sunday, we hosted 15 ambitious eaters for our first ever Farm to Table Dinner here at Meadow Wood Farm. Shane gave them an in depth two hour tour around the farm, explaining all the practices we use and why we farm the way we do. I prepared an eight course meal using all the vegetables, fruits, and meats they had just seen on the different parts of the farm. By the end of the meal, we had a couple guests about to founder, a term we usually use for horses who have eaten too much hay. Some of my favorite courses were the hoisin and balsamic glazed lamb rib chops, the smoked trout blinis with creme fraiche, and the beet panna cotta with lemon mousse. It was such fun for me to practice my fine dining skills although we were up well into the night cleaning all the dishes and snacking on leftovers. There is nothing Shane and I love more than sharing our farm and what we love with our friends. It is so important to us that the people who eat our food understand why the way their food is raised is so impactful on the environment, on the community, and on us farmers. We will be hosting another dinner in July and hope even more of you all can come down and build your connection to this farm, your farm!
