Happening on the farm September 9, 2021

Winter crops are in the ground now, and we've prepared beds for October garlic planting, even sneaking seed into kohlrabi, beet and scallion beds. (We sow mustard seed to cut and turn into the soil to limit negative nematode impact. And, we've got organic straw ready to mulch the beds.)

If you want to learn about garlic grading, braiding and hanging, we have some 2021 garlic left to do and it is a task which can easily be accomplished with physical distancing in place.

Shorter days means weed (a.k.a. plants in the wrong place) growth has lessened too, so we can accomplish some serious field cleanup as we go about our harvesting, planting and watering tasks.
