Farm Happenings for the week of November 19, 2022

Posted on November 13th, 2022 by Jessica Foote

Hi All,

On farm the goal is exit fields today! Left is a celeriac harvest & a few more rows of carrots, carrots will not be in short supply this year!

We will have dino kale in shares this week along with lots of other beautiful greens!

Another addition are some 1lbs bags of #2 Spinach as pictured above, this is incredibly good for soups & quiches.

My favorite soup is creamed green soup! Here it goes short & sweet!

2 tbs butter

Add 1/2 cup of whole wheat flour, or corn starch (Really what ever you like for thickening!)

2 tbs chicken or vegetable bouillon

4 cups water

4 cups milk

When it is heated and thickened add chopped spinach slowly & let it wilt into the soup. Simmer a little till greens are cooked, remove from heat!

Puree with hand blender.

And voila! A very quick dinner, one of Jessalynns favorites, courtesy of her Aunty Karen, and an over abundance of spinach in 2013!

I like to make quick & easy tea biscuits to go with! I recommend the butter tea biscuits from The Joy of Cooking, amazing cook book.

Anyhow enough already! Let's wrap it up, I have to head out for chores.

Don't forget you can place orders on our Online Mini Market  at lunargardens.ca , Click on Mini Market and follow the directions!

If you are looking for any baked goods, meat, teas, coffee, milk, maple syrup, honey, etcetera.   Should be open for shopping by Monday & orders are prepared for the same day as CSA baskets & can be brought to drop off locations as well!

Cheers your farmer,

Jess
